Biggest Fantasy Heartbreak?

I'm working my way through Steven Erikson's Malazan books; currently nearing the end of Memories of Ice and I've just had to put the book down!

Can't believe what I'm reading! The dramatic irony had been building but I didn't think he'd follow it through .


What was your biggest heartbreak in a fantasy book??
